Our today’s topic is how to use rapid dimension command in **Unigraphics NX 10**. Rapid dimension command is situated in 2D Sketch environment in Unigraphics NX 10. This command is very useful command in 2D sketching. You have to use this command for making your drawing fully constraint. If you are a designer in **Unigraphics** you must know the use of this command. Rapid dimension command is used for giving dimensions to your lines, circle, arcs, etc. This command creates a dimensional constraint bi inferring the dimension type based in selected objects and the corners location. All the dimensions we have to give whether it is radial dimension, linear dimension, or angular dimension, this command is used this command has a dimension drop down where all dimensions command are separately available. Let’s discuss in detail how to use all dimensions command.

**LINEAR DIMENSION: –** Linear dimension are subdivided into four types these are vertical dimension, horizontal dimension, point to point dimensions and last is perpendicular dimension.

**A. VERTICAL DIMENSION: –** This option in linear dimension command only gives vertical dimensions to the curves and line in Unigraphics NX. For example – Dimensions given to vertical sides of a rectangle and vertical dimension given to a between a circle or vertical dimension given to between two circles etc. useful command and frequently used by designers. In this image vertical dimension is given to vertical sides of a rectangle. 76 is vertical dimension here.

**B. HORIZONTAL DIMENSION: –** This option in linear dimension command is used for giving horizontal distance to points and lines in Unigraphics NX. This is similar to previous command horizontal dimensions are given by this. For example – Dimensions are given to horizontal sides of a rectangle and horizontal dimension given to a between a circle and line or horizontal dimension given to between two circles etc. useful command and frequently used by designers. In this image vertical dimension is given to horizontal sides of a rectangle.

**C. POINT TO POINT DIMENSION: – **This option in linear dimension command is used for giving point to point dimensions in Unigraphics NX. For example – In this image dimension is given diagonally between two points. The dimension between two circles non parallel or parallel doesn’t matter here. This command is used very frequently by designers. Here 148mm is the point to point dimension between two diagonal points of rectangle.

**D. PERPENDICULAR DIMENSION: – **This option in linear dimension command is used for giving perpendicular distance to points and lines in Unigraphics NX. This is similar to vertical and horizontal command. For example – Perpendicular dimensions given to sides of a rectangle or between a circle or a point or between two circles etc. useful command and frequently used by designers. In this image 18 mm perpendicular dimension given between rectangle and a circle.

**ANGULAR DIMENSION: –** Angular dimension is easy to use command with no sub-category options. Creates angular dimension between two non-parallel lines in Unigraphics NX. We have to give two lines for using this command. our X-y-axis act as a line for giving angular dimensions to a particular non-parallel line. For revering the of the angle just change the sign of angle as a result the order changes or we use alternate solution command for changing order by just clicking on dimension. In this image 48 degree is angle between two lines and 18 degree is between one line and datum axis.

**RADIAL DIMENSION: –** This command creates radius and diameter constraint to circular curves. This command has two sub-categories these are radius dimension and diameter dimension. Radius dimension given to circles and fillets this command is used. According to our need we choose radius and diameter easy command and very frequently used in designing/sketching.
